The US District Court for the District of Utah has granted final approval for a $1.8 million settlement in a class action lawsuit against lender Snap Finance LLC. The lawsuit alleged that the company failed to adequately protect customer’s personal information in a data breach in November 2022 that affected over 60,000 people. As part of the settlement, class counsel will receive $540,000 in attorney’s fees and over $9,000 to cover expenses. Eight named plaintiffs representing the class will receive $2,500 each in service awards. The class includes any US resident who received a data breach notification in December 2022.
